Microsoft Azure Certification Practice Exams

Azure practice exams are in development for Cert-Ready. AZ-900, AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-500 and more are planned. Get notified when they launch.

About Microsoft Azure Certifications

Microsoft Azure is the second-largest cloud platform globally, holding approximately 22% of the cloud infrastructure market (Gartner 2025). Azure certifications are structured across Fundamentals, Associate, Expert, and Specialty levels, covering cloud concepts, administration, architecture, security, data, and AI/ML.

The AZ-900 Azure Fundamentals is the most common starting point, requiring no prior cloud experience. The AZ-104 Azure Administrator and AZ-305 Azure Solutions Architect Expert are the most in-demand Azure certifications by job market volume. Over 300,000 professionals hold Azure Expert-level certifications. Microsoft reports Azure certification holders earn an average of 26% higher salaries than non-certified counterparts.

Azure certifications are role-based and scenario-driven, meaning each exam tests your ability to solve real-world problems on the Azure platform rather than recall definitions. Exams are administered by Pearson VUE, available online and at testing centers.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Azure Fundamentals AZ-900 exam?
AZ-900 is the entry-level Azure certification covering core cloud concepts, Azure services, pricing, and governance. It has no prerequisites and is suitable for non-technical business stakeholders and anyone beginning their Azure journey. The exam consists of 40–60 questions with a 700/1000 passing score.
Which Azure certification is best for cloud administrators?
The AZ-104 Azure Administrator Associate is the standard certification for cloud administrators managing Azure subscriptions, identities, storage, compute, and virtual networks. It requires 6+ months of Azure administration experience and serves as a prerequisite for the AZ-305 Expert certification.
What is the Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)?
AZ-305 validates skills in designing cloud and hybrid solutions on Azure, including infrastructure, identity, resilience, and security. It requires passing AZ-104 first. Architects with AZ-305 earn an average of $145,000 annually in the U.S. (Glassdoor 2025).
Is Azure or AWS certification more valuable?
Both are highly valued. AWS has more overall market share and job postings, but Azure is growing faster (22% market share in 2025, up from 18% in 2022) and is dominant in enterprises with Microsoft 365 and Windows Server infrastructure. Many cloud professionals pursue both.
